I regret that it is. You are a great man I have no personal experience other than the grandparents of my husband. All I know is that it allows both pad change frequently.

Some changes in the diet can help. Some food has a bad odor of urine. Try to determine the fate and avoid those.Good!

Could it be that she has a urinary tract infection? This often causes offense or the smell of ammonia and increase the time your wife's urine.
Can you get your access card to buy a small amount of urine in the toilet and the rest of the current in a sterile container (in the pharmacy)? These can be your doctor or Community health nurses considered for the check. It may require antibiotics.
There are some good products for incontinence, that is for "street Kylie" super absorbent and fits on the bed.
"It depends" is a type of absorptive cells protect from freezing. These are the towels they provide about 6-8 hours after the absorption. ) It is recommended that you change the rec but pads often and wash and dry perineal area (from front to back.
Ask your wife to drink 2 liters of water per day. You can either alkali in the urine "Ural" in pharmacy or a glass of soda or a teasoon in a glass of water.
If you try to use the bathroom with his wife every 2-3 hours. If she is able to practice PELVIC floor exercises, which may also contribute to incontinence.
Cranberry juice is also useful in the ICU.
Maintenance of scents from the region of Sines is desirable that irritation and infection can cause more exacebate.
I wish him luck in his efforts. Alison

I regretted the illness of his wife.
I would say to avoid or reduce intake of sulfur-containing degradation products should (eg ammonia, mercaptans and thioesthers)

In addition, some constituents of asparagus are metabolized and excreted in the urine, so that a distinctive acrid smell (I am not saying they should avoid eating asparagus, asparagus but will smell of urine).
Note: The rhizomes and roots of the asparagus is treated to treat certain infections of the urinary tract and kidney and bladder.

To avoid the inclusion of plenty of fluids, (the strong smell of ammonia from the urine, but you have to replace the pads / catheter frequently).

Hope this helps. :)
